Course Description:

This course will cover antenna physics and systems engineering topics related to radio communications. Antenna topics include performance parameters, basic antenna types such as wire antennas, planar and integrated antennas, aperture antennas, electrically small antennas, arrays, and others for a wide range of practical applications. It will also cover the physics of noise, bandwidth, impedance matching, polarization, and other concepts that are important for communication systems engineering.

Homework: 25%

Midterm: 25%

Final: 50%

Class structure:

This class will include weekly homework, a midterm exam, and a final exam. Students will be expected to read the appropriate sections from the book prior to the lectures, and to participate in discussion about the class topics.
