High Pressure Combustion Facility

The “High Pressure Combustion Experimental Facility” (HPCEF) was designed to carry out combustion experiments at pressures up to 25 bar. It is currently used to study combustion of low molecular weight hydrocarbon fuels in laminar nonuniform flows. Although the HPCEF is mainly employed for studies of combustion processes in non-uniform flow fields employing counterflow burners, it is a versatile facility that can be used for experimental studies on non-premixed, premixed and partially premixed combustion using different burners and configurations. Measurements that could be made using the HPCEF are critical conditions of flame extinction, critical conditions of autoignition, measurements of temperature profiles and concentration profiles of species.
