Non Premixed Flame Structure and Extinction

Our research into Chemical Kinetic Mechanisms using a Co-flow diffusion flame apparatus.

Brief Description

The Coflow diffusion flame burner was originally built to test the reliability of JP-8 computer models.  Today it is used to test a wide range of liquid and gaseous fuels.  Current diagnostic capabilites include intrusive thermocouple measurements, chemical species profiling, flame height measurements and blowoff measurements.  All experimental procedures are computer controlled.
