Ice Cream

Ice Cream

I scream
For ice cream
And I just wail
Until it goes off the trail.

I start to mumble
And then I grumble:
I scream for ice cream!

My mom stops baking,
For the house is shaking.

I give my sister a dime
In 10 seconds time,
She gives me her ice cream
I don't need to scream!

Professors

She's from the University of
     ‘‘I don't care’’
Which is in Delaware.

He's from the University of
     ‘‘I don't know’’
Which is in Idaho.

But of all the universities
(And I think I have a little guilt)
These two are the only universities
That haven't yet been built.

Chumash

The Chumash ate some berries
They also ate some cherries
They spoke a lot of Hokan
And used a lot of trees

Their homes were nice and comfy
So they were never grumpy
Light came though a little hole
So they could always see

Chumash ate lots of fish
It was their favorite dish
The richest man was the chief
He did whatever he wished

Chumash were known for canoes
They made good baskets, too
Women wore lots of aprons
But no one wore any shoes

Snowflakes

We are smaller than a millimeter, as far as we've been told
But we are all rarer than any amount of gold!
We have six sides and are symmetrical, you see
But no other of our kind is just like me!
Sometimes, there are a few of us, one, two, three, or four
And other times, there are trillions of us, or more!
Sometimes, we might bite, but we don't have teeth
We come at the time you hang your Christmas wreath!
We are small, wispy and fragile
On the other hand, we are very agile
What are we?

Christmas Poem

Two little girls were tucked in bed
‘‘Tomorrow is Christmas!’’ they said.

‘‘Ho ho ho!’’ said Santa Claus.
He got out a present and paused.

‘‘This present is for Hillary,
and that one's for Claire!
Their house is not far away,
I'm nearly there!’’

The two little girls woke up in surprise.
They couldn't believe their eyes!

‘‘We've been really really good!
Let's unwrap our presents!
I think we should!’’

Vampire

Vampire Vampire where do you sleep?
Under the ground very deep.

Vampire Vampire what do you drink?
Red blood, as red as ink.

Vampire Vampire what do you hear?
Your voice, as small as a deer.

Vampire Vampire where do you fly?
Over the ground, under the sky.

Vampire Vampire do you like bats?
No I don't, they smell like rats.

Vampire Vampire where will you go?
Over the ground, under your toe.

Leprechaun

Leprechaun, Leprechaun what do you eat?
‘‘I eat a bowl of cereal made from wheat.’’

Leprechaun, Leprechaun what do you see?
‘‘I see a pot of gold made for me.’’

Leprechaun, Leprechaun where do you hide?
‘‘I hide by a clover's side.’’

Leprechaun, Leprechaun what do you smell?
‘‘I smell a human being's yell.’’

Leprechaun, Leprechaun what do you hear?
‘‘I hear somebody's fear.’’

A Cinquain About Myself

Claire
friendly, active
learning, running, playing
someone who is a lovely sister
aren't I?
